(Islamweb)

(Quran KSU)

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

(Quran KSU)

(Quran KSU)

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

(Quran KSU)

(Quran KSU)

(Quran KSU)

(Quran KSU)

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

(Quran KSU)

(Quran KSU)

(Quran KSU)

(Sunnah)

(Islamweb)

(Sunnah)

(Sunnah)

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

🇬🇧 Stories of the Righteous: Persistent Supplication and Turning to Allah in Every Matter

    Image

    Image

Introduction: Supplication Is the Believer's Greatest Refuge

Supplication, or Du'a, is one of the greatest acts of worship in Islam. It is not merely a request for something we need; it is an expression of humility, dependence, hope, and complete reliance upon Allah.

    Allah says:

“And your Lord says, ‘Call upon Me; I will respond to you.’”
    Qur'an 40:60

The Qur'an presents us with beautiful stories of prophets and righteous people who turned to Allah during hardship, loneliness, illness, fear, poverty, and uncertainty.

Their stories teach us an essential lesson:

Never abandon supplication simply because the answer seems delayed.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ warned against becoming impatient with Du'a. In Sahih Muslim, he explained that a person's supplication continues to be answered as long as he does not become impatient and say that he has prayed but received no answer. (Sunnah)

    1. Prophet Zakariyya: Supplication Despite Old Age

    Image

    Image

    Image

    Image

    Image

    Image

    Image

    Image

One of the most inspiring examples of persistent supplication is the story of Prophet Zakariyya (Zechariah), peace be upon him.

He had reached an advanced age, and his wife was unable to have children. From a worldly perspective, the circumstances seemed extremely difficult.

Yet Zakariyya did not abandon hope.

    He prayed:

“My Lord, indeed my bones have weakened, and my hair has turned white, yet I have never been disappointed in my prayer to You.”
    Qur'an 19:4

This sentence contains an extraordinary lesson.

Zakariyya remembered Allah's previous kindness and said, in meaning:

“My Lord, I have never been disappointed when I called upon You.”

He then asked Allah for righteous offspring.

    Allah answered him:

“So We responded to him and granted him Yahya, and We made his wife fit for him.”
    Qur'an 21:90

    The lesson

    Do not say:

    • “I am too old.”

    • “My situation is impossible.”

    • “There is no solution.”

    • “I have asked too many times.”

    Instead, say:

“Allah is capable, and I am His needy servant.”

    2. Prophet Yunus: Supplication in the Darkness

    Image

    Image

    Image

    Image

    Image

The story of Prophet Yunus (Jonah), peace be upon him, is perhaps one of the most powerful examples of turning to Allah during an apparently impossible situation.

Yunus found himself in darkness: the darkness of the night, the darkness of the sea, and the darkness inside the belly of the great fish.

Yet even there, Allah heard him.

    He called:

“There is no deity except You; glory be to You! Indeed, I have been among the wrongdoers.”
    Qur'an 21:87

    Then Allah says:

“So We responded to him and saved him from the distress. And thus do We save the believers.”
    Qur'an 21:88 (Quran.com)

    Notice the final words:

“And thus do We save the believers.”

The verse does not mention Yunus alone. It opens a door of hope for every believer who turns sincerely to Allah.

    The lesson

No matter how dark the situation appears, Allah can hear you.

There is no place where His knowledge and mercy cannot reach you.

    3. Prophet Ayyub: Supplication During Long-Term Hardship

    Image

    Image

    Image

    Image

    Image

    Image

Prophet Ayyub (Job), peace be upon him, was tested severely.

Yet his supplication was remarkably simple:

“Indeed, adversity has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.”
    Qur'an 21:83

He did not complain against Allah.

He acknowledged his suffering while simultaneously acknowledging Allah's mercy.

    Then Allah says:

“So We responded to him and removed his adversity.”
    Qur'an 21:84

    The lesson

Sometimes the most powerful Du'a is not the longest one.

A few sincere words coming from a broken and humble heart may express more than many pages of speech.

    4. Prophet Musa: Supplication for Provision, Work, and Security

    Image

    Image

    Image

    Image

    Image

    Image

Prophet Musa (Moses), peace be upon him, reached Madyan after leaving Egypt.

He was alone, far from home, and in need.

He helped two women water their animals. After completing this good deed, he went into the shade and prayed:

“My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need.”
    Qur'an 28:24

It is a beautiful and comprehensive supplication.

Musa did not list every single need.

    He simply acknowledged:

“My Lord, I am in need of whatever good You send me.”

Allah then opened doors for him.

    The lesson

Do not limit your Du'a to major spiritual matters.

    Ask Allah for:

    • lawful provision,

    • work,

    • marriage,

    • a home,

    • success,

    • protection,

    • knowledge,

    • righteous children,

    • relief from debt,

    • guidance,

    • peace of heart.

Allah is the Lord of the great things and the small things.

    5. Prophet Ya'qub: When Grief Becomes Overwhelming

    Image

    Image

    Image

    Image

    Image

    Image

Prophet Ya'qub (Jacob), peace be upon him, suffered deeply because of his separation from his beloved son Yusuf (Joseph).

    His grief was enormous.

But he did not lose hope in Allah.

    He said:

“I only complain of my suffering and my grief to Allah, and I know from Allah that which you do not know.”
    Qur'an 12:86

    This is a beautiful distinction:

The believer may be sad, but he does not have to become hopeless.

Ya'qub cried, suffered, and grieved, but his heart remained connected to Allah.

    The lesson

When life becomes too heavy, take your pain to Allah.

    Tell Him everything.

You do not need perfect words.

    You need a sincere heart.

    6. Ibrahim and Ismail: Working While Supplicating

    Image

    Image

    Image

    Image

    Image

    Image

Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and his son Ismail (Ishmael), peace be upon them, were building the Sacred House.

They were working with their hands, but their hearts were attached to Allah.

    While building, they prayed:

“Our Lord, accept this from us. Indeed, You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.”
    Qur'an 2:127

This teaches us a fundamental principle:

    Work and pray.

Islam does not teach a person to abandon the means.

    Rather:

Take the means + make Du'a + trust Allah + remain patient.

    7. Prophet Nuh: Persistence Despite a Long Trial

    Image

Prophet Nuh (Noah), peace be upon him, called his people to Allah for an extraordinarily long period.

    Allah says:

“And We certainly sent Noah to his people, and he remained among them a thousand years minus fifty.”
    Qur'an 29:14

His journey teaches us that immediate results are not always the measure of success.

When his people continued to reject him, he turned to Allah.

    He said:

“Indeed, I am overcome, so help me.”
    Qur'an 54:10

    Allah answered him.

    The lesson

Sometimes our greatest mistake is expecting an immediate result.

The believer's responsibility is to continue doing what is right and continue turning to Allah.

    8. The Three Men in the Cave: Supplication Through Sincere Deeds

One of the most famous stories in the authentic Sunnah concerns three men who entered a cave.

A huge rock fell and blocked the entrance.

    They were trapped.

They realized that nothing could save them except turning sincerely to Allah and mentioning righteous deeds they had performed purely for His sake.

Each man supplicated through a sincere deed:

    • one mentioned his kindness to his parents;

    • another mentioned his abstinence from sin despite having the opportunity;

    • the third mentioned his honesty and preservation of another person's property.

After each supplication, the rock moved until they were finally able to escape.

The story is authentically reported in the major collections of Hadith.

    The lesson

Supplication should be accompanied by sincerity and righteous action.

A believer does not merely say:

    “O Allah, help me.”

He also tries to become someone who deserves Allah's mercy through faith, repentance, honesty, charity, patience, and good deeds.

What Does Persistent Supplication Really Mean?

Persistent supplication does not mean demanding that Allah give us exactly what we want at the exact moment we want it.

    It means:

“I will continue to turn to Allah because I know that He is my Lord.”

The Prophet ﷺ warned against impatience.

He explained that the servant should not say:

“I supplicated again and again, but I did not see an answer.”

Sahih Muslim records this warning clearly. (Sunnah)

Imam al-Nawawi's commentary on the hadith explains the prohibition of becoming impatient and abandoning Du'a because the response has not appeared according to one's expectations. (Islamweb)

The Difference Between Persistence and Impatience

    Persistence

“O Allah, I ask You again because I need You.”

    Impatience

“I asked Allah, but nothing happened, so I will stop asking.”

    The first is humility.

    The second is giving up.

The believer continues to ask while trusting Allah's wisdom.

    Beautiful Supplications from the Prophets

    The Supplication of Yunus

“There is no deity except You; glory be to You! Indeed, I have been among the wrongdoers.”

    The Supplication of Ayyub

“Indeed, adversity has touched me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.”

    The Supplication of Musa

“My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need.”

    The Supplication of Zakariyya

“My Lord, grant me from Yourself a righteous offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearer of supplication.”

    The Supplication of Ibrahim

“My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [many] from my descendants.”

These supplications remain powerful reminders that believers can turn to Allah with their needs in every circumstance.

Final Message: Never Abandon the Door of Allah

The stories of Zakariyya, Yunus, Ayyub, Musa, Ya'qub, Ibrahim, Nuh, and the three men of the cave all carry one magnificent message:

    Keep turning to Allah.

When you are worried, make Du'a.

When you are happy, make Du'a.

When you need money, make Du'a.

When you need guidance, make Du'a.

When you need healing, make Du'a.

When you need a righteous spouse, make Du'a.

When you worry about your children, make Du'a.

When you have no idea what to do, make Du'a.

And when you receive what you asked for, make Du'a again—with gratitude.

The believer's relationship with Allah is not limited to moments of crisis.

    Allah is always the Lord.

And the servant is always in need of Him.

    • le travail ;

    • la subsistance ;

    • le mariage ;

    • la réussite ;

    • la protection ;

    • la santé ;

    • les enfants ;

    • le logement ;

    • le règlement des dettes ;

    • la connaissance ;

    • la tranquillité du cœur.

    5. Ya'qub : confier sa tristesse à Allah

    Image

    Image

    Image

    Image

    Image

    Image
